Capcom Increases Graduate Salary in Japan to Attract Exceptional Talent

Capcom is planning to raise the base salary for new graduate hires in Japan by approximately 27 percent in order to attract exceptional talent.

The increase will ensure that new recruits earn 300,000 yen ($2,000) per month, a significant rise from the current starting salary of 235,000 yen ($1,570) per month.

The wage hike is set to take effect at the start of the 2025 fiscal year, following a 30 percent increase in the average base salary for workers in Japan two years ago.

According to Capcom, the salary adjustments are part of the company's focus on strengthening its development and technological capabilities to create high-quality games and enhance corporate value.

In addition to salary increases, Capcom is implementing various initiatives to invest in its people, including bonus systems tied to business performance and employee stock-based compensation.

Further Raises for Capcom Workers

Capcom also plans to raise salaries by over 5 percent on average in the upcoming fiscal year and provide a one-time special payment to current and new staff as an investment in the company's future.

With a significant increase in net sales over the past nine months driven by popular titles like Street Fighter 6 and Resident Evil 4, Capcom appears to be in a strong financial position.
