Seam aims to provide easy access to customer data for all business users

With the increasing importance of data access for business success, Seam, an early-stage startup, wants to make data readily available to all business users, regardless of their technical skills. The founders of Seam, who previously worked at Okta, recognized the need for better data accessibility and decided to address this issue, particularly in relation to customer data.

They recently announced a $5 million seed funding round to turn their vision into reality, making their product accessible to the public for the first time.

Seam's CEO and co-founder Nicholas Scavone explained, We're building what we're calling the AI interface for customer information. And our mission is really to give anyone regardless of their technical ability, what we're calling business users, the opportunity to use data to answer any questions they have.

Their approach involves a generative AI prompt interface that allows users to ask questions about customer data in natural language, eliminating the need to understand SQL queries. This chat interface simplifies interactions with sales and marketing systems and provides quick answers without technical barriers.

Seam is built on top of Snowflake and aims to eliminate the reliance on SQL for data extraction. By automating the conversion of plain language queries into SQL code, business users can easily obtain the information they need without the assistance of a data analyst.

Since their launch in March 2023, Seam has focused on simplifying complex data infrastructure and integration with multiple applications. The company's platform is now production-grade and is gaining traction with enterprise customers.

The $5 million seed funding was led by Bessemer Venture Partners, with additional investments from Colle Capital, F7 Ventures, Ritual Capital, Umami Capital, and industry angels.
